Wellsport-Portwell
Flats
These twin sister brick apartments serve as an anchor for the southwest corner of the historic Sherman Hill neighborhood, with stately columns and accents that reflect the popular neoclassical style of their era.
Built in 1902 and originally designed by the renowned Proudfoot & Bird Architects, the buildings fell victim to thoughtless remodeling and neglect. The renovation included near total interior demolition to remove intrusive remodeling. RDG maintained important historic features, restored structural integrity and original unit densities, and provided modern amenities. Units were returned to the original layout with a contemporary interpretation.
