Wilson Lofts
This transformative project breathes new life into unoccupied office spaces, creating 33 contemporary residential units above first-floor commercial incubators in an historic downtown building.
The Wilson Building in downtown Clinton, Iowa, stands as the community's tallest and most prominent historic building. Our primary objectives for The Wilson project are not only to repurpose unutilized spaces but also to celebrate and preserve the rich history embodied in the building.
RDG's restoration of deteriorated masonry facades ensures that the building retains its iconic appearance while becoming a beacon of urban revitalization. Inside, we stabilized and preserved the beautiful historic characteristics of corridors, stairwells, glass interior doors and the many other unique architectural details that have defined the building through many years, while ensuring the building is code-compliant throughout.
The modern loft apartments created from unused office spaces address the community's need for downtown housing options and the first-floor commercial spaces support local entrepreneurship and economic development.
