In conjunction with major renovations to the community college's main building, administrators saw the opportunity to bring the building up to code standards and asked RDG to assess the of multiple buildings on campus. A primary request was to evaluate the need for signage that meets requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act for the sixty-year-old campus Main Building.

During initial conversations about the Main Building it became increasingly important for the design team to solve for the needs of users to navigate the complex building by adding a system of wayfinding signs and other area identifications. From a thorough on-site documentation effort emerged a recommendation for a system that would go beyond minimum ADA code requirements, solve for gaps in communication, and provide elevated functionality. Extra care was taken to ensure the design of the sign systems would be able to be updated in rural Nebraska with minimum maintenance and downtime to accommodate ever-evolving use of space and nomenclature in higher education. The work of the design team extended to the campus site with the delivery of a campus wayfinding master plan for future signage as the administration continues to execute site-wide development.
