Hadley Family
Recreation and
Well-Being
Center
The Hadley Family Recreation & Well-Being Center represents nearly a century of evolution in campus recreation, wellness and student life.
Built on the historic site of the former Women's Athletic Building and later the Central Campus Recreation Building (CCRB), the new facility continues the university's longstanding commitment to health, inclusivity and community.
Originally established in 1928 as one of the nation's first facilities dedicated to women's intramural athletics, the site has continually adapted to meet the changing needs of the university population. The new center replaces the former CCRB, modernizing campus recreation with a forward-looking approach focused on physical well-being, social connection, and holistic student wellness.
Strategically located along one of the university's busiest pedestrian corridors, the 220,000 SF facility serves as a vibrant hub for recreation and engagement. Designed with transparency, openness, and visual energy in mind, the center creates an active and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. The comprehensive program includes aquatics, indoor courts, fitness and cardio areas, indoor turf space, climbing and bouldering walls, studios for group exercise and mind-body wellness and dedicated recovery amenities such as saunas and steam rooms.
Named in honor of the Hadley family following a transformative $20 million gift, the facility reflects both a legacy of philanthropy and the university's continued investment in student experience and well-being for generations to come.
