Windows on the north and south wings of the regal and historic Iowa State Capitol Building showed signs of weakening and deterioration. Using aerial drones to take video footage both before and after construction, RDG assessed all wood window sills, evaluated the exterior sealant and finish around window perimeters and examined surrounding conditions at each window.
RDG's designs focused on rehabilitating, repairing or replacing window structures as needed to restore the integrity of each window, along with recommendations for potential future design and repairs to stone, repointing, copper flashing and other materials surrounding each window.
