Improvements
These improvements along 8th Street and Parking Lots F and H within the campus were constructed in two phases in consecutive years.
The travel lanes along the 8th Street corridor were narrowed to reduce traffic speeds and improve pedestrian safety. A speed table was constructed where 8th Street intersects the east end of the Integrated Technology Courtyard (another RDG project constructed the prior year). Stormwater planters were added along the right-of-way, to filter and treat runoff from the street and adjacent parking areas before it can enter the city storm sewer system. An innovative system of modular pre-cast panels was used to construct the framework of each planter, which reduced the time required for construction. Multi-colored pavers were used in the adjacent sidewalks to create a unique look for students and visitors walking along these paths.
