The Mud Creek Watershed Management Plan was sponsored by the Mud, Camp, and Spring Creek Watershed Management Authority with Polk County as the fiscal agent in response to growth and development projected near the stream corridors.
In advance of the coming development, the WMA wanted to determine stormwater BMP options, locations for regional retention basins, and other practices coupled with an education and implementation plan. The results and recommendations of the study are currently being implemented by the Polk SWCD. The project included a public engagement component to hear the concerns of the current property owners and potential developers and ensure the results and process were understood.
