Luther College's transformation of its 1960s-era Regents Center into the new Gerdin Fieldhouse marks a bold step in modernizing its athletic facilities to meet the evolving needs of student-athletes and enhance campus life. Addressing long-standing challenges—including an outdated arena floor at the end of its life expectancy, oversized and inefficient spectator seating, and shared seasonal locker rooms—this renovation introduces year-round, sport-specific locker rooms designed to better support every team. The Gerdin Fieldhouse positions Luther on par with American Rivers Conference (ARC) and NCAA Division III peers, aligning its athletic offerings with the exceptional quality of its academic programs and rich athletic traditions. The new facility also reinvigorates campus life by providing dynamic gathering spaces where students can meet, study, and socialize, all while revitalizing recreational amenities to support wellness and community. Program Addition of new facility entrance featuring hall-of-fame, concessions, and restrooms Renovated indoor practice/competition space: basketball, volleyball Addition for expanded wrestling practice space Student social space Upgraded quality in locker rooms, arena, offices, and equipment issue Increases size of athletic training and quantity of offices Adds team meeting space that can also be used as classroom Simplifies circulation inside the building to make user-friendly Tailgating plaza and new entry to the football stadium
