This project develops a program statement and conceptual design for future recreation, fitness and wellness spaces for the University of Tennessee Knoxville RecSports.

After evaluating the existing condition of recreation facilities on campus, it was determined that a renovated and expanded TRECS would provide the additional space needed, connect to the campus ped mall, and create a new, more visible primary entry.

Climbing, bouldering and gymnasium spaces are located at the north end of the building, where they are easily visible from the main entrance and exterior. Indoor aquatics, locker room space, and additional fitness space are placed along the east portion of the building. Circulation spines provide dynamic views of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Site improvements create accessible outdoor space and enhance outdoor recreation with two new sand volleyball courts and two multipurpose courts that can be used for basketball, tennis, or pickleball.
