Surgery Center
Co-locating Steindler Orthopedic's new clinic with an ambulatory surgery center specifically designed for orthopedic surgeries allowed Steindler's physicians to completely up-end their practice model in alignment with the high value they place on a positive patient experience.
RDG worked directly with the healthcare providers and the clinic and surgery center managers to craft a design that features an "onstage/offstage" clinic environment, featuring double-entry exam rooms with separate patient and provider entrances to allow providers to move quickly between spaces and therefore see patients promptly, reducing wait times.
The surgery center offers operating rooms and material handling environments that are specific to the needs of orthopedic specialties, with double-entry ORs that allow separation of patient flow from transfer of surgical supplies and equipment, space to stage supplies for multiple procedures, and central sterilization space sized appropriately for orthopedic equipment and procedures.
The combined facility's warm and inviting spaces include natural wood accents, ceramic tiles and specialized decorative lighting to enhance the experience for both patients and staff, and the design's efficiency helps physicians spend more time with patients and less time navigating the space.
