Architect

Al is a licensed architect and LEED Accredited Professional. With over 40 years of professional experience, Al has worked on over 100 sports projects, including 30+ NCAA Division I athletic projects.

A skilled facilitator with depth of knowledge in sports and recreation projects, he provides leadership in developing collaborative design solutions, assuring quality control, and providing decision support as required. Al's experience encompasses work on over 70 college campuses and more than 20 communities. He is a popular invited speaker and has presented at over 30 national sports/recreation/wellness conferences. His projects have won AIA state and regional awards, as well as national user group awards, and have been published both nationally and internationally.  

Al holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Arts – Architecture from Iowa State University and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He has served on the boards of Special Olympics Iowa, Des Moines Leadership Institute, South Suburban YMCA, State of Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Council, Very Special Arts Iowa and is currently a governor of the Iowa State University Foundation and member of its Engagement Committee.
